Show SEIIHT FAVORS EXTEiEO COURSE Provo Citizens Believe That High School Should Be Up to the Standard. Specini to The Tribune. PROVO, April 25. At a citizens' mass meeting held In the Central school last evening the sentiment waH all In favor of the city board of education conducting n four-year course in the high school. Up to the present the high school course has been confined to Jirst and second year work, for kick of sufficient funds to carry on the full course. This was explained at tho meeting by J. W. Farrr.r, A. X. Taylor and A. O. Smoot, members of tlio board of education. Principal Thurman, of the high school gave some Information In the matter of increased cost. R. R. Irvine. Jr.. F. A. Hulsh, Jesse M. Harmon. Preston G. Peterson and others spoke, all In favor of a. com-, plote course. The sense of the meeting was expressed in favor of the board of education and the Commercial club committee com-mittee on education conferring und making mak-ing an estimate of the additional cost of tho complete course and report at a later meeting, to be called by the board. There Is little doubt that the result will be the establishing of a complete high school course as a p:irt of the city's public school system. Seymour Gray, a high school student, presided at the meeting, and Miss Norma Pack, also a high school student, acted as secretary. |
