EXPECT TO START WORK 1 RESERVOIR Commissioners Will Probably Proba-bly Appropriate $25,000 for Job This Morning. Probably J25.000 will be appropriated by the city commission this morning for the prosecution of work on the dams and reservoirs at the head of Big Cottonwood canyon. At an executive scsalon yesterday yester-day following the reading of an opinion by l.ho city attorney to tho effect that the city is not bound by law to appropriate appropri-ate the entire amount in one year Involved In-volved in Improvements authorized during dur-ing the current year, the commissioners agreed tentatively that whatever sums can bo -withheld this year under the attorney's at-torney's opinion shall be put Into tho water Improvement projects. Tho matter of paving Seventh South from Main to Fifth East street also wa.s considered informally and if the money can be obtained from funds appropriated for other Improvements, $16,000 will be set aside for this work, which has been petitioned for time and again by property prop-erty owners along the street. If tho opinion of the city attorney i3 followed, the commission undoubtedly will withdraw half of the J.'iO.OOO appropriated for curb and gutter extension No. 120 and will divert tho monoy into the projects for Impounding the waters of tho lakes In Cottonwood canyon. The money for paving Seventh South probably will be raised bv diverting $1G,000 from the sinking sink-ing fund.
