Show TRAGEDY TO BE DEEPLY PROBED Special to Tho Tribune, BOISE. Ida., May 21. Governor John M. Haines of this city today ordered a sweeping Investigation of the tragedy enacted at the Blackfoot asylum for tho insano this morning, when Peter Bradovltch Brado-vltch brained five of the Inmates of that Institution while he was suffering from an attack of homicidal mania. A. B. Moss of Payette, president of tho asylum board, was summoned, from Payette and left tonight for Elack-fooU Elack-fooU Bradovitch was sentenced to the penitentiary peni-tentiary for life for murder committed In Shoshone county. He was received here in May, 1009, and was so violent that at tlme3 he had to be kept In irons under orders Issued by Warden Snook. When not In irons ho would assault the guards with anything he could get In His hands whenever they entered his cell or opened tho door When he left here, accompanied by two guards, for the asylum It was necessary to tlo both of his hands at his side to keep him from attacking those around him. i "The tragedy Is one of the worst in the history of our state institutions," said Governor Haines tonight when asked for a statement. "I intond that there shall be a complete and searching investigation, investiga-tion, so that the people will 'know all of tho facts. With that idea in view I immediately im-mediately telephoned Mr. Moss, president of the board of trustees at Payette, and asked him to come to Boise, this afternoon. after-noon. He did, and wo held an hour's conference on the matter. He then left on the evening train for Blackfoot. All of the membors of the board have been summoned to report at Blackfoot. Dr. Poolo did not narrate tho details de-tails of tho tragedy in his telegram, but I gathered from it that It Is ono of the most brutal that has been recorded In any of our asylums or penal Institutions." |
