Dr. David Starr Jordan. At his home tonight Dr. .Tor dan said: "It is true that .Miss Knight and my son have been good friends, but. it is rather premature to say that they are engaged. Neither Mrs. Jordan nor I know just what sort af understanding understand-ing there is between Miss Knight and my son, so I. would not be justified in saying that, they are engaged tp wed. Wo would -niiieh prefer to have the news wait upon a formal announce-1 ment of an engagement.
