This Ih one of the most important yttirlent positions in the university, because of thfl l.trgo .'i mount of money handled by the manager each year. .Thorn arc two trips to Colorado, which Involves the paying pay-ing of expenses of sixteen or seventeen men. In return two Colorado teams are brought here each fall. In the winter there Is cither a week's trip to Montana or one !o Colorado. Involving the ex-ponprs ex-ponprs for thai time of seven men. In tho sprlntr there are numerous baseball trips and track trips, ranging In length from Salt Lako to Provo and return to Journeys from Salt L-ake to Denver and return. Added to this there will" be a one week's trip next fall of the football leum to southern California. This will necessitate the handling of spveral thousands of dollars and for that teas-on. and others, much Importance Is attached to the position of manager. JSath year one senior is .selected manager man-ager of athletics. This senior has two assistants taken from the Junior class. The assistants are trained during their junior year by the senior manager and tho athletic council and at the end of the vear the one whose work has. been most satisfactory is chosen senior manager for the following vear. The work of Dow Young, who has been the other Junior assistant this year with Ferron, was highly commended, but It was thought that Fcrron's work during t lie year merited his election. The other nominees were Dow Young. Cloyd Wool-ley Wool-ley and L. TT. Peterson. Peterson will not he at school next year, so he was not considered. |
