Show TRIBUTE Pi TO MEMDRYOF ASHTON Hundreds Attend Funeral of Popular Educator at Granite Gran-ite Stake Tabernacle. Attended by an exceptionally large gatherlnc of people, among whom were many prominent citizens and educators, funeral services for B. W. Ashton, superintendent super-intendent of the Granite school district, who died Sunday, were held at 2 p. in. yesterday at the Granite stake tabernacle. taber-nacle. Rlshop John M. Eloquent and heartfelt tribute to the character and life of the late educator was paid by the speakurs-Mnen who bad been associated with him In various walks In life. Attention was called to his tlrelcssness In rendering public service Opening prayer was ofTcred by I'.lshop James Jensen, of the Forest Dale ward. Tho speakers were Taylor P- Hrockhank, In behalf of tho Granite schools; Joseph Lindsay. In behalf of tho school board; George M. Cannon. In behalf of the Hun-day-schools: Frank Y. Taylor: Principal James 0. Moss, of the Granite high school. James H. Moyle; Rlshop John M. Whltaker and P. J. Saunders, who read a memorial resolution from the teachers with whom Mr. Ashton had been associated. asso-ciated. The musical programme was under the direction of Edward FI. Anderson, of Sugar House ward. It Included: "Just As God Leads," by the Forest Dale Ladles' quartette: "O King of Mercy." a duct, hy John T. Hand and W. S. Lamcrcaux; "Dear Promised Land," by Mrs. Lizzie Thomas Edward, with a violin vio-lin obllgato by W. C. Cllve: "Face to Face," by Margaret Summcrhays. and "Reyond the Hilltops," by the Sugar House ward choir. Tho pallbearers were Edward E Howe, principal of Woodstock school; 1-1. K. Stcffcnson. instructor at Granite high school: Hcbcr M. Garff, principal of Roosevelt school; Walter R. Wilson, principal prin-cipal of Plymouth school; Elmer Howell, principal of Irving school, and Oliver Johnson, principal of Sherman school. Interment was In the City cemetery. Tho grave was dedicated by Wlllard C. Burton. |
