Show TOOELE SMELTER GETS NORTH FORK CONTRACT Special to The Tribune. SPOKANE. Wash., Juno 28. Coc.ur d'AIene North Fork Mining & Smelting company, of which Ely P. Spalding Is president, has awarded a contract to the International Smelting & Refining company com-pany of Tooele, Utah, to handle the entire en-tire load oro and concentrate production of the Monarch mine, five miles cast of Murray, Ida. Mr. Spalding gave out this statement: "We- expect to produce 900 tons of lead concentrates monthly hereafter, besides Tlbotit 100 tons of zinc concentrates. The latter will go to an Oklahoma smelter. Tho load concentrates run from 55 to 60 per cent in lead and 10 to 12 ounces of silver to the ton. Tho zinc product runs? between 45 and 50 per cent zinc, 3 to 5 per cent In lead and 10 to 12 ounces In silver. .Heretofore we have been shipping between 300 and 500 tons of concentrates monthly, but our enlarged mill with a capacity of 200 tons of oro daily, now Is In operation. The concentrator is on tho main line of tho Idaho Northern railroad. "The Monarch, mine Is developed to a vertical depth of" 1400 feet by a 3266-foot crosscut tunnel, which starts at the mill. In about thirty days wo shall start a shuft from the tunnel lovel where tho oro shoot shows a longth of.300 feet and a width of from three to sixteen feet. The oro body appears to be lengthening and widening wi-dening as dfepth is gained on It. Near the surface it showed a length of only 70 feet, while on the 1000-foot level It Is 285 feet long All tho levels are connected through to tho surface." |
