NEGRESS ALLEGED TO HAVE PICKED POCKET Charged with picking the pocket of Es O, Thomas, a white man. Mabel Alexander, a negress. was arrested on Commercial street Friday niglit and taken to the police station by Patrolman Carlsburg, where she Is being held on tho charge of larceny. After ho discovered that his pocket had boen picked. Thomas called upon Carlsburg to arrest the woman, showing the patrolman, at the time, his empty nockotbook, which he said had contained Jfi In silver. Patrolman Carlsburg darted dart-ed Into a "noodle Joint" and captured the woman as she was attempting to escape through the back door. When confronted confront-ed by the man .she had robbed she accused ac-cused him of having the stolen moncv In his overcoat pocket, and. slipping her hand Into tho pocket of the man's coat, she produced the six silver dollars. The tale, and tho action accompanying It, failed to Impress tho patrolman, who look the woman to the station.
