Showier came to this city about two years ago from Nevada with his wife, aud tho couple took rooms at thc homo of llirshvogel, who, at that time, resided at fi2C South Main street. Hlrshvogcl does not know what business Showier was in at that time, nor what he was doing up, to the time of his death. Ills wife left tbo cltv about three months ago and went to Seattle, at which place the authorities arc attempting to locate her. Showier went lo the rooming house at 15('i West South Temple street Frldnv night last and asked for a room. Ho had retired for the night before tho clerk noticed that he had failed to sign the register. His body was discovered thc next day by the clerk who went to awaken him. Lying alongside thc body was an eight-ounce empty bottle thai had contained laudanum. Evervthing which might be used to Identify the man had been destroyed, even to the tearing olf of the label on the bottle. |
