Show federal Bunch and "Authorities" ! Getting Busy for Fall Election j There was a fluttering In the dove cotes of the federal hunch Tuesday. The federal fed-eral hunch If still the same old combination combina-tion and the. members thereof are now looking ahead to the fall campaign, for then a legislature will be elected, which In turn will elect a United States senator sena-tor to succeed George Sutherland. Sutherland Suth-erland is to have a successor ho Is not to succeed himself. But lo return to the first proposition. Collector Calllster visited Jody ICIdicdge Tuesday. Then Jody called upon Postmaster Post-master Thomas, and again the former met Colonel Kd Loose, who has been hanging around town for several days, so that one can see that missionary work Is on fool. But this is not all. There Is to be a change In the complexion of the congressional con-gressional delegation. Sutherland Is to go by flic board, and he may be succeeded suc-ceeded by Congressman Joseph Howell or Colonel C. JO. Loose. Jackllng, It Is claimed. Is pledged to Sutherland. If tho present Junior senator gels out of tho light but In his latest interview given to The Tribune he stated emphatically that lie was a candidate for re-election then that act would relieve .Tackling from his obligation and the mlnlnc man would enter en-ter the Held against all comers. Of course. it Is noi III; My to do him much good, for the desire of the powers that he Is. If possible, to have churchmen in the senate and a Gentile or "Mormon-Gentile" in the lower house. There a Gentile Gen-tile sycophant can do ho harm. A difficulty diffi-culty might arise in the Cnllcd Slates senate, and tho Mormon church. In the event of such a. crisis, might be able lo save tho face of that august body, and for that gracious act there would be a loud avclalm. Now, with Sutherland eliminated with a decision of "the bunch" and the "authorities." "au-thorities." and they are virtually the same. that, two churchmen must go lo the senate, giving to ihe Gentile population popula-tion of the state the minor position of congressmen, the question arises, who shall go lo congress? It might be Colonel Loose. He Is deserving of honor from the augusl aggregation. It might be a man from Ogden. but not "Bill" Ginsmann. Glasmniin is a splendid Mormon-Gentile, but his candidacy for congress con-gress is not. only absurd. It Is absolutely ridiculous. But there are several competent com-petent business men In Ogdeti who could and would accept the congressional nominal nomi-nal Ion. and then "the people" would have the thing geographically and ecclesl-asllcally. |
