Show TABERNACLE CHOIR MAY COM- PETE AT WELSH EISTEDDFOD The Welsh people of Scranton, Pa., have for Home time bean agitating a movement to form a choral organization of Welsh-American citizens to compete at the national Eisteddfod to be held at Carmarthen, Walos, ln September, 1911. It sepms, according to somo local musicians, musi-cians, that a question has arisen as to whether the Welsh singers. In choral union, are better vocalists ' than the real Welsh. Then there Is another lesuo at point, the choir from Scranton, Pa., secured the llrat prize at tho world's fair jn Chicago in 18!I3. the Salt Lake Uibornncle choir was awarded second prize; another choir from Scranton was given the third prize. Of course there has always been a difference dif-ference of opinion In Utah as to the decision de-cision of the committee at the world's fair with regard to the merit of the Utah j singers. Now the tabernacle choir and backers thereof believe they have an opportunity op-portunity to get even and wlllmeet tho swat singers of Wales on their native soil and they think they can beat them-With them-With this end ln view, Professor Evans Stephens Is said to bo seriously considering consider-ing tho organization of a body of singers tcl eo W",e! in ion and make an effort to bring back to Utah that first prize, According to authority, the church would give the singers financial backing. Spmo public-spirited citizens would also give monetary help. But tho singers themselves would glvo concerts In tho largo cities ln this country and would do the same on the other side of the Atlantic. Atlan-tic.
