Show PIONEER WOMAN DEAD: RESIDENT OF BRIGHAM Special to Tho Tribune. BRIGHAM CITT, June A. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon In tho Second ward meeting house over tho remains of Mrs. Sophia AraIontInc, who passed away AVedncsday morning at tho home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Isaacson, Isaac-son, in tho Second ward. Mrs. Valentine, who was also familiarly known as Sophia Bensen, was a pioneer of the early fifties, crossing tho plains with one of the handcart hand-cart companies at that time. Deceased was born In Denmark sixty-seven years ago. and was but a young girl when she emigrated to this country. Urlgham City was her destination, and she lived here continuously up to her death. Deceased was the wife of the late A'. Valentine, and was tho mother of six children, three of whom survlvo her. Tho children uro Mrs. Annlo Scdcrholm, Mrs. Carl Isaacson and James Valentine. Two sisters, sis-ters, Mrs. Soren JI. Nelson and Mrs. James Olscn. now reside in this city. The services were very improsslvo and were attended by numerous friends and relative!!. rela-tive!!. Two of the wards of tho Box Elder slake have recently been reorganized and tho appointment of two new bishops bus boon made. At Harper ward, Thad-deus Thad-deus Wight was appointed to the office of bishop, to succeed the late Bishop Harper, who died a few months ago. The counselors to Bishop Wight aro Joseph S. Glbbs and EH T. Pclrce. In tho Wil-lard Wil-lard ward, AV. J. Facer was released as bishop and the appointment of Joseph Hubbard was unanimously sustained by the meeting. For bin counselors Bishop Hubbard chose Ilclgar Packer and Apollos Taylor, who were also counselors to Bishop Facer. |
