Show WHEAT OPENS Sill BUT CLOSE IS WEAK Conflicting Reports as to Crop Damage Make Market Unsteady Un-steady During the Day. CHICAGO, March 1. Wheat prices today to-day declined to a closo 3-1 to lAo off after swaying up and down on conflicting conflict-ing crop damage reports. Corn was bull-Ishly bull-Ishly Inclined early, but fell off later on more liberal offerings. Oats closed unchanged un-changed while- provisions took the upgrade up-grade again, May pork making a new lop price for years at $25. the products closing a I an advance of from 2c to 42Jc with pork in the lead. Wheat prices took on strength early after a heavy opening. Later, however. May prices fell from $1,153 to $1,113. The close was weak at near the lowest point, with May 35'c oft at $1.1 l?$l .15. Heavy buying gave a strong tone to the corn market early In the day. The demand from the shorts was quickly satisfied and quantities of grain were put on the market, causing a downward trend. There were light offerings of cash corn. The May delivery advanced to 66Sc and fell off to 651c. the other months taking a similar course. The close was weak at the low point with May 1c down. Trading In oats was within narrow limits, lim-its, the fluctuations being from lo to 3c. All the futures closed unchanged, with May at 171c. In provisions, May pork led the van and at the outset and again at the close, ' sold at $25. a new top price. Fluctuations Fluctua-tions for May pork were between $25 and S2I.65.
