Show Opening of New and Palatial Gould J Terminal Set for August 15th NEW GOULD TEEMTNTAIi STATION AT SALT LAKE CITY. To Bo Opened in August for Denver & Kib Grande and Western Pacific Passenger Trains. Gonoral Superintendent J. C. Dailcy of tho ."Rio Grande linos Saturday announced an-nounced that on tho close of business August 14 tho offices would be moved from the present station to the now terminal and union station of tho Rio Grande and Westorn Pacific. Ilio Grande trains will commonco to operate-to operate-to and from the station with tho early morning trains of August 15. Tho above is the first photo taken of tho now station 6inco its completion, and while Borne work remains to be done upon the interior, tho building is ready for occupancy. Tho photo was taken by Shiplers Saturday and shows the front and end wing fticing Third South street and Rio Grando avenue, the city side. On tho track sido tho appearance ap-pearance is different, as a glass and steel covered portico runs from tho entrances en-trances to tho tracks and umbrella sheds run 400 feet along tho tracks. Tho building has been fully des- cribod in Tho Tribune. It is an imposing im-posing structure and an architectural beauty. The design was by Henry Schlacks, an architect of Chicago, and tho very finest material is included in tho specifications. Tho interior is large iaud designed for traffic . growths of years to como. All tho details of track connection from tho Rio Grande and Western Pacific have boen completed and workmen are now engaged in cleaning clean-ing up tho grounds and making ready for occupancy. |
