Tho river to river road built across Iowa especially for tho Glidden tourists proved of great help to tho boys who oponcd up and traveled at Jhc full speed limit over the excellent highwa3'9. Marshal Abernathy, the father of the boys who is accompanying thorn, is a close personal friend of Colonel Boose-velfc Boose-velfc and was ono of tho few visitors tho colonel saw when ho first arrived in New York City. Colonel Booso-velt Booso-velt and I slept, ato and tramped together to-gether and I want to say he is a wonderful won-derful man. I don't know how ho koops up tho way ho does. Ho 'b always busy and in camp he was tho hardest worker in the party all tho timo. "The colonel and 1 talked about his, African hunting experiences and tho colonel said he wished I might havo been there and had some of the fun. But that kind of hunting is different from western hunting, you know. Yos, I ox-pect ox-pect to havo the colonel out hunting again with me somotime. "I do not think Colonol Boosevelt will again become a candidate for president. pres-ident. Personally I would like to see him run again. Ho has had all tho honor that could possibly bo given to uu' man, and unless duty calls I think ho will remain a private citizen. Politics Pol-itics arc pretty hot out west now. Things are humming and I am anxious to got back." Tho boys have shown a disposition to bo loucsomo since they struck the west-orn west-orn roads and intend to koop on without with-out delay to tho finish. The Brush car in which they aro travoling has cov- orod the trip without mishap and to all Hj appearances is just as fit as whon it left ;R Newr1 York City on tho 2100-mile trip.
