Hydrophobia has broken out among tho animals at City park zoo In Denver, and us a result four wolves already havo been killed one! mnnv others nre considered in danger, dan-ger, while a grizzly bear and two cinnamon cin-namon bears arc also threatened. The first Intimation of tho presence of the dlaeaso came a few days ago when Claude Hill, an attendant at the. zoo. was attacked by a largo timber wolf, other wolves joining. Hill narrowly escaped es-caped dath. An Investigation resulted In tho timber wolf being shot and Its head eent to tho agricultural collcgo for examination today, the college reporting that tho wolf had hydrophobia. Thruo other wolves having shown signs of rabies, ra-bies, wore destroyed. It Is feared still others will dovelop the diseaee, as the timber wolf attacked many of them. It also attacked the bears. The animals are said to be among tho most valuable of their species to be found. |
