Sherman was stolen from in front of tho Scott Hardware company's place of business, lu'S South Main street, early Thursday afternoon, and despite the efforts of tho police department and the sheriff's office to locate if, no clue as to its whereabouts had been discovered discov-ered at an early hour this, Friday, morning. Willey .lr., in the hitter's office in the Seolt-Auerbych building, Thursday afternoon. aft-ernoon. When his visit was at a'11 end ho left' the office and proceeded to the curb to 1ako possession of his machine, but; it was uowhero in sight. Bystanders Bystand-ers whosaw tho incident of the stealing steal-ing described tho man who had left in tho auto. That and facts which were not given for publication led Mr. Sherman Sher-man to the conclusion Hint Hayes was the guilty party. At o'clock yesterday afternoon Mr. Sherman appeared at, the county attorney's attor-ney's office and made application for a complaint charging Joseph Hayes with grand larceny. Tt, is understood that tho complaint will be issued today. Hayes came- to Sail, Lake during the past winter and resided at, the St. Al-nany Al-nany hotel on Second South street. He is not known to have worked since ho came to Salt Lake. It is said that lie made the statement, to a friend Thursday Thurs-day morning that "something will bo doing this afternoon." Whether ho has left; the city or not with the stolon automobile, is not known. The automobile is of the Pierco-Ar-row make. |
