Ec-kort and three companions compan-ions of Snlt Lake were returning from the southern jiart of Utah in their automobile auto-mobile yesteruay. and as soon as they hit iho business portion of Murray, along State street, they endeavored to break all previous automobile reeords for fast driving, and would probably have succeeded suc-ceeded luit for the eagle eye of Marshal Mike Mauss. who saw them coming and halted them In front of tho city hall, where they were arrested for exceeding tho speed limit. Judge Banks lined them $10 and they were allowed to depart. Tills is tho first automobile line here since last summer. At that time about lll'ty owners own-ers of automobiles wore lined in the city court by Judge Hanks for shattering the speed limit in Murray. John .laros, a native of sunny Ttaly, was haled before his honor today lo answer lo the charge of cruelty lo animals. An interpreter was necessary lo translate Jaros's broken dialed lo the court. lie was fined $3, while his three companions, Tnm Mellsh. Joe Dorhas and Mike Llmlsh, were fined $5 each, for aiding .laros in beating the horse to make him go faster. The owner of the. horse and buggy was present at Iho proceedings, and Jaros and his companions were compelled to pay mm $l.r for the use o ftho horse and vehicle. All (lues were paid. A resolution has been adopted by tho Murray city council for the purpose of determining the question of issuing ?Tw.-000 ?Tw.-000 in bonds, to enable Murray City lo purchaso the water distributing system, the electric light system, and Install a sewaize system, and also complete the platting of Murray City. The Progress Power company will this week commence the work nf installing additional hydrants on N'orlh State street, and also on Vine street. On North State street, piping will be done for a distance of S0O foot, and the same number of feet will also be piped on Vino street: One of the old landmarks of Murray will bo lorn down this week. The old bridge which spans Little Cottonwood creek on South State street, which has been In position for an indefinite period and which was installed by the official:! of the old Horn Sjlvcr smelter, will bo replaced by a more up-to-date affair. The now bridge will be constructed solely of concrote. and on either side, of the bridge will bo a retaining wall. The work will be done under the supervision of City Engineer Joseph Ulmer. |
