Brave Boys, March On." Not tho least attractive of the big things of the mammoth parade of the Grand Army here August 11 will be the appearance of the National Association Asso-ciation of Civil War Musicians, tho largest; veteran drum corps in the world, comprising over seven hundred greyheaded grey-headed and grey-bearded fifcrs and drummers who took part in the great war of tho rebellion. This immense drum corps wns organised or-ganised by E. J. Freeman, familiarly callod "Bert" Freeman of McDonough county, Illinois. lie joined the first company of Union soldiers vhich wont to tho fronl from . AIcDonough count 3', having como from Vermont county with his comrade, Pierce Mickey. Mickey died in the hospital during the advance to Corinth. Freeman was alwnys known among his comrades as the bhortcst man in the regiment. Followiug tho close of the war ho became filled with tho desire to organize or-ganize a drum corps which should be a drum corps, and accordingly brought together all tho old fifcrs and drummers drum-mers of tho civil war in the country near his home a I Audubon, Iowa. The following extract from the official circular cir-cular sent out recently marshalling the " boys' ' for the coming encampment shows something of the size of the organization or-ganization and the manner in which it ; is handled: Equipped as of Old. "Let every member of the band equip himself as of old with bugle, dram and B flat fife, take up the 'lino of march' and move to our annual meeting at Salt Lako City, Utah, reporting re-porting on arrival thcro al Lafayette school building. No. 13 North State stroer. for duty during the week of 'August 0-1-1, where we will surety mako this, the forty-third national encampment encamp-ment O. A. it., the best, pleasantest, and most, profilablo in our history as an association. That beautiful city of the 'inland sea' bids us a cordial western west-ern welcome. Will entertain us while with them free of charge. "We have already been assigned to lead tho grand parade, as usual, and other divisions also. "Jt is suggested that, comrades from the 'far east' use tho N. Y. C. & IT. It li. to Buffalo, then Nicklo Plate to Chicago, arriving there in La Salle street depot on morning of August 5;. there take a special car via C. It. 1. & St. P. out at 0:15 a. m., train No. 7; this will be for uso of O. "W. M. onty. At Dos Moines, Iowa, it will he attached at-tached to the 'Iowa Special' train. At Atlantic, Iowa, joined by another special spe-cial car, then through ' to Colorado Springs, then via tho D. & It. G. to Salt Lake City, arriving Sunday, the 8th of August, passing through tho Itockios by daylight August 7. This gives one tho chance to see the beautiful scenery tho Itockios afford.
