"WASHINGTON, April 16. The leaders of Congress have notified the President I hat several laws which he desires to have enacted at this session will not be put through. A recapitulation recapitula-tion shows that when tho session ends Congress will probably have failed to j pass many of the most important mens- j tires recommended by the President, j They are as follows: '.Restricting the power of the federal courts in the issuance of injunctions in labor disputes; amending the Sherman anti-trust law so as to establish estab-lish a system of federal . licenses for interstate corporations; to enable the railroads to form traffic associations so as to secure greater stability of. rates and returns; to remove some of tho restrictions from combinations of labor; la-bor; to. prohibit the railroads from blacklisting union employees; empowering empower-ing the interstate commerce commission to fcontrol future issues of stocks and bonds of railro.ad property; - to permit the attorney general to name one of the receivers appointed for insolvent railroads; to remove the duty on wood pulp; to provide for the construction of. four battleships instead of two; to establish es-tablish postal savings banks. Measures That Are Favored, These nre the measures which the leaders have agreed to put through if possiblo. Making more elastic currency,: granting compensation to government employees injured while in tho government govern-ment service; prohibiting child labor in the District of Columbia; authorizing authoriz-ing the ways and means committee of the Tlousc and. the finance committee of the Senate to give hearings preliminary prelimi-nary to a revision of the tariff; appropriating appro-priating a sum sufficient to enable the tnland waterways commission to continue con-tinue the work on which it started last i vcar, 1 |
