Tt was voted to recommend the immediate appropriation, appropri-ation, of $1,000,000 to pay the coal bill incident to the voj'agc of Admiral Evans' Meet to the Pacific and of tho $12,000,000 asked for by Secretary Taft and Chairman Goothafs to carry on until tho close of tho current fiscal year the canal digging work as mapped out by Colonel Goethals.
