Mrs. George .Francis Stiehl held a large and beautiful reception Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon. The decorations wcro in the national colore. The parlor in crimson rarablors. the library in many vnscs of white carnations and sweet peas, and tho dining-room in tho three colors. A largo flag hung between be-tween the doors and over the window. win-dow. The table centerpiece was a drum filled with red and white sweet peas and bachelor buttons. There were many small flags over the while table covor and on the curtains. Cut glass dishes, filled with red, white and blue candies, added to the artistic table. Tho chan-dehors chan-dehors in all the rooms were trimmed m smilax and small rings. Mrs. George Bnce 'and Mrs. W. II. Child serv.:d tea and coffee. Punch was served by Miss Bailey, Miss Allen and Miss Evans in the hall. Over the table hung a large flag, with bunches of red, white and blue flowers. Mrs. Stiehl was-as-sisted in receiving by Mrs. Philip Clark and Mrs. A. E. Kykort of Paris. Most delightful music was furnished during tho afternoon by a guitar and mandolin orchestra, which was in tho upper hall under tho stare and stripes. Many friends called during the hours of 3 and 6, and were welcomed at the door by little Miss DeEtto McChryslal and Master Balph Stiehl. Miss Loreou Leary entertained at the Country club Wednesday in honor of Miss Beatrice Cheesman. Tho decorations dec-orations wore in tho national colors. A "bowl of white flowers formed tho centerpiece, cen-terpiece, with bunches of red and blue flowers at each end. The place cards were bunches of small firecrackers. Covers wore laid for Mrs. East on, Mrs. Cleveland, Mrs. Cannon, Mrs. Behal, Mrs. Breeden, Miss Hansen, Miss .Borden, .Bord-en, Miss Niks. Miss Sadler, Miss Kingsbury. Kings-bury. Miss Sullivan, Misses Marge and Aurnnia Ellerbeck, Miss Mclntyre, Miss McClcau, Miss Stingley, Miss Townscnd, Misses Bess and Mildred ' McMillan, Miss Baer and Miss Leary. Mrs. 'V. H. Pease entertained in honor of Mrs. W. II. .Tones Wednesday afternoon. after-noon. Tt was a beautifully appointed Japanese luncheon. The tables were decorated with flags and roses. Later there were cards. The decorations at tho card tables were Japanese sketches, Mrs. T.i. H. "Deano won the first prize and Mrs. Lizzie Campbell the second. Mrs. Widouer won the consolation prize. An imported vase was presented to the guest of honor. Mrs. John L. Bowman will entertain at luncheon Saturday for Mrs. Jones. r Miss Kingsbury entertained at a dinner Wednesday evening. Tho decorations dec-orations were in pink carnations, and the place cards wore green leaves. Covers Cov-ers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, Thomp-son, Mr. and Mrs. Cannon, Miss McLean, Mc-Lean, Miss Stinglov, Miss Townscnd, Miss McTutyre, Sir! Fill, Mr. Parten, Mr. Campbell. Mr. Lundgron, Lieut. Robinson and Miss Kingsbury, i Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Tuttlo celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary with a dinner Wednesday evening at thoir j homo on U street. The table was decorated in smilax and crimson ramblers, the place cards wcro hand painted with a brido and groom. Mrs. W. E. Fife entertained at the I Country club Wednesday. Bridge was enjoyed, followed by a luncheon, at which covers wore laid for thirty-five. The decorations were in the national colors and the place cards were small flags. Each guest was presented with a red, white and blue flag as a favor. Dr, and Mrs. W. S. Hudson will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. TI.
