Fresh reports of black rust In the wheat fields of the Northwest were used today to put strongth Into tho local wheat market, September closing at a net gain of Zc, corn 1c and oats gc. Provisions were 2Jc higher to 5c lowor. When trading commenced there was an active general demand for wheat and prices ranged from flc to lc above yesterday's yester-day's closing. The buying was based largely on firm cables, small receipts and higher prices on the Minneapolis curb. The market was still further strengthened by damage roports from tho Northwest, some of which, received late in tho day, confirmed previous reports of rust In Dakota wheat fields. It was claimed today that the blight had appeared In Minnesota Tho official forecast of more rain for Illinois, Iowa and Missouri, where harvesting is In progress, was another an-other bullish Influence. Local longs sold freely all day. but offerings were readily taken and the market continued strong throughout the session, closing strong. September opened B3c higher, at 92J (S&2Sc, advanced to 03gc and closed at 93c. Unusually hot weather In Kansas and Oklahoma caused a strong market In corn today. Buying was .quite general, with cash houses taking the larger part of tho offerings. Firm cables and small receipts were minor bullish factors. Tho close was strong. September opened i lc to gic higher, at 53iC?533c. advanced to 54Jc and closed at 532g'53Ic. Trading In oats was quiet and the market was firm. Numerous reports of damage- by wet weather were received from tho Northwest. September opened JfSSc higher, at 3S539c, aold between 383238Ic and 39ic and closed at 39c. Provisions were steady with the exception ex-ception of a slight weakness In pork causer by selling by local packets. A steady tone for live hogs was a Dullish Influence.
