Show DIPLOMATIC TRIUMPH. Message a Bombshell In Camp of Slow-Going Europeans. ST. PETERSBURG. June 10. 3:15 p. m. The text of President Roosevelt 's personal appeal to the sovereigns of the warring countries to arrange a meeting of the plenipotentiaries for the purpose of agreeing on terms of peace, which arrived here this morning, rent tho veil, and for the skeptics at St. Petersburg who refused to believe President Roosevelt's Roose-velt's efforts to bring the belligerents together could succeed. It came llko a bombshell. President Roosevelt's sole purpose to bring about a meeting has been achieved, and now It Is merely a question ques-tion whether the results will be tho pence "for which tho wholo civilized world will pray." It is a diplomatic triumph of the first magnitude and the diplomats hore tnako no attempt to conceal their admiration for the New World brand ot diplomacy, which acts while the remainder of tho world thinles. |
