Show OLD FOLKS AT THE GRAND. Harry Corson Clarke Company Delightfully De-lightfully Entertains Thorn. Many a delightful event has been planned In honor of tho old folks of Salt Ijike, but! not one has brought them moro pleasure than that of yesterday, when they wero guests of honor nt a special matinee given by Harry Corson Clarke and his company at the Grand theater. "Mr. Foster of Chicago" was tho play presented, and Mr. Clarke and his company probably never appeared beforo a more appreciative audience than that on which the curtain rose yesterday afternoon. As has been tho custom for many years, the old folks wore red, white or bluo badges. Red predominated, a large number of those present having passed the seventieth milestone. Those, who wore the blue wero few Indeed, theso having passed eighty; whllo tho whlto badge, or tho one designating that the wearer had passed ninety, was seqn on but two or three. The gallery yestcrdny was reserved for the children of tho various orphans' institutions in-stitutions of tho city, and the clever play presented by Mr. Clarke and tho Other mombers of the clever company eeemed to appeal to the children as much as to the grown-ups. Judging by the laughter and applaut which camo spontaneously from the youngsters. |
