Show Three Men Blown to Atoms by Powder Fourth Man Injured So Badly That He Died Short While After. Accident. TROY. N. Y., March 23 Three men were killed outright and unothor so badly injured that he died a few hours later, by an explosion at tho Schaghtlcoko powder mills near this city today. The men killed were: Dead. JAMES WHITE.- CHARLES COLBURN of Hazardvllle, Conn. JAMES SPRAGUE. ALBERT BARTLETT, tho latter being employees. Blown to Atoms. The men wero at work In tho Corning mill when the oxploslon occurred and tho cnuso Is not known. Tho bodies of three victims wero blown to fragments. Tho fourth victim, White, was found S00 feet away and not yot dead. Buildings Destroyed. Threo wooden buildings comprising part of tho plant and a car, the lattor loaded with powder being transferred to the Corning mill, were destroyed. Tho main buildings of tho plant wero not hnrmed. Othor Property Damaged. Tho explosion caused a great amount of J damage to windows In Valley Falls and ! Schaghtlcoko and tho shock was plainly felt ln this city. Tho buildings destroyed wero practically new, having replaced thoso blown up May 10 of last year, at which tlmo two employees em-ployees wore killed. |
