Show DROVE BAD BARGAIN. ' Idaho May Bo Believed From 45,000 Acres of Worthless Land. Special 10. Tho Tribune. Washington, d. c. March 2s.-From present Indications the State of Idaho will succeed In being allowed to relinquish 15,000 acres of land selected by It under tho Impression that It was valuable for agricultural and grazing purposes, but proved lo fall far below In vnluo to tho standard of land required to be selected. Tho case was decided about a year ago adversely to tho State, but on evldcnco recently submitted by Attomoy-Gcneral Gnheon through Senator Ilnyburn tho enso was reopened nnd reconsidered, and a favorablu decision may bo expected within a few days. Senator Hcyburn has been beforo tho Secretary of tho Interior a number of times In the matter, and on yesterday again urged beforo tho Attorney-General for tho Interior department and tho acting act-ing commissioner of tho General Land office, favorablo action In behalf of tho State, with tho result above Indicated. Tho action will save to tho Stato over half a million dollars, which otherwise, would havo boon lost to tho Stato institutions, institu-tions, and enable the Stato to make now selections. |
