Show Streets Ab.out Joiat Building to Be Paved City and County Will Join in Work of Remedying- Disgraceful Condition. Two of tho blocks that surround tho city and county building aro to be paved, and State street, tho "slough of despond," will bo converted con-verted Into n. macadamized struct within tho year. This was determined at a conferciico between Mayor Morris, several of tho City Councilman and tho County Commissioner), in tho Mayor's ofllco yesterday morning. It Is probaolo that tho county will bear half of tho expenoo of tho paving. It Is considered consid-ered that tho control of tho streets near tho Joint building Is within tho prdvlnco of tho county as well as tho city. Statu street will then be macadamized from Fifth South to Tenth South. With this Improvement effected, with nn asphalt as-phalt paving on Stato from Fourth to Fifth South nnd on Fourth South from Stato to Second Hast, the neighborhood of the city and county building will bo unrecognizable next winter. In addition to this tho street department will got busy connecting up all cement sidewalks with stone crossings. A resolution by E. ir Davis, passed In the Council, provides that stone crossings' shall bo put In all over tho town to connect cemont sidewalks. |
