Show Dodge Dies Suddenly on Trip for Health Druggist of This City Expires at Chndbourne's Tavern, on Way to St. George. Word was received in tho city yesterday yester-day afternoon from St. George, Utah, announcing an-nouncing tho death at Chadbourno'.s tavern tav-ern of E. I,. Dodge, for tho past eight months a resident of this city. About three weeks ago his ccpdltlon changed much for the worse, and his physicians, behoving that his drr.th would not bo long delayed If he remained here, ordered his removal to St. Gcorgo as a last resort. Mr. Dodge left the city on Monday, K. C. Penrose traveling with him. Ho was weaker than usual on the day of his departure, and It Is supposed that tho long stago Journey Jour-ney proved tan much of a strain. Mrs. Dodge did not accompany her husband southward, and his death, although not entirely unexpected, unex-pected, camu ns a great shock to her, because be-cause of Its .suddenness. A dispatch from Modena says that Just before reaching Cluulhourne'sr Mr. Dodpc requested to bo put out the vehicle so that he could walk, saying that ho felt mucli stronger. After walking a short distance It was noticed that he was, about to fall, and he was then picked up and carried to the tavejn. whero ho expired shortly after Ills arrival. The body was taken to SL Georgo and Is now on the way to this city. Funeral arrangements will not be made until after Its arrival. |
