Blodgett died today of old age at his home In "IVauke-gan, "IVauke-gan, III., aged S4 yearn. He was closely identified with tho building of the first rallwav linr- ho. tween Chicago and Milwaukee. He was a member of the sanitary commission commis-sion during the Civil war. "While a member of the Illinois Legislature Legis-lature Judge Blodgett originated and put through a bill giving married women wo-men control of their separate property. It was the pioneer legislation of that kind anywhere in the United States, and has since been universally adopted In almost every State in the Union. In 18S2 Judge Blodgett resigned from the bench to accept an appointment by President Harrison as one of the counsel coun-sel for the United States in tho Boring sea arbitration. |
