DES MOINES. Ia., Feb. 9. Eight coaches of the overland limited on the Chlcaco, Milwaukee' & St. Paul railway, rail-way, which left Chicago last night for the West, crashed through a bridge a mile and a half west of Melbourne early today. The bridge where the accident oc- ' curred was 100 feet in length and thirty ! Teet in height. At the time of the acci- 1 dent the train, which was a double j header, was running at a high rate of speed. The second engine jumped the track just as the bridge was reached and. weakened the timbers of the trestle. tres-tle. Both engines managed to pass over, but eight coaches pitched' down through the bridge carrying the whole structure with them. The observation car alone escaped. Surgeons Reach Scene. Physicians were rushed to the scene from Perry nnd Marshalltown, accompanied accom-panied by wreckers. The dead and Injured In-jured were removed as quickly as possible. pos-sible.
