Show MR. FLEMING- RETURNS. Inspected Methods of Reduction at the Greene Con. John B. Fleming, tho well-known mechanical me-chanical engineer whoso skill Is reflocted in a number of the most efficient of Western West-ern plants for the reduction of ores, came in from Mexico yesterday, where ho has been in the interest of tho White Pine Copper company, whoso mines at Ely, Nev., aro to bo oqulppcd tho present year with means for tho recovery of their metals. During his nbsenco Mr. Flomlng visited the plants and properties of tho great Greene Con at Cananea, Mcx., which has attained n place among tho most prominent of copper producors. notwithstanding not-withstanding tho long interval between dividends. With tho now mill yot Incomplete Incom-plete and only one-half of the old one In commission, the management Is at present pres-ent reducing 1500 tons of ore dally, while at the smelter, tho furnaces aro reducing as ntlch as a thousand tons during the same period. In tho oporation of tho properties and plants tho management is at this time employing as many as three thousand persons, nor is much exertion required to supply tho tables nnd fur-naceG fur-naceG with their requirements. After consultation con-sultation with Manager Requa of tho White Pine company, by whom ho was met In this city. Mr. Fleming will leavo for Butte and Anaconda, to study tho methods employed there in the reduction of ores, and then push on to California. Upon the Information derived by him from all these sources Mr. Fleming will begin tho construction of 'a mill at tho White Pino company's properties, this, In all probability, to be followed by tho Installation Instal-lation of furnaces. |
