Show PUBLIC-SPIRITED MEN WORK FOR THE CITY Commercial Club Committees Take Up Several Lines of Important Im-portant Work to Promote the Best Interests In-terests of Salt Lake. A meeting of tho Commercial club's 1 Committee on Mines and Mining was hold last night, at which somo enterprising moves were considered that will be of great benefit to tho State. Among thos.; present wero John S, Bransford, chairman; chair-man; W. S. McCornlck, Duncan Mc-Vlchlc, Mc-Vlchlc, J. V. Ferris und William H. Tlb-bals. Tlb-bals. The commlttc met for thp purposo of organizing and preparing their plans of action for the comlnfr year. Ono result of their discussion, which may havo great success In storo for It. was that William H. TIbbals was appointed a committee for tho purpose of corresponding with tho officers of the National Mining congress with a view to securing permanent headquarters head-quarters of tho cotiKress In this city. It Is reasonably certain that the Commercial Commer-cial club will succeed in this endeavor, seeing how much conditions are In favor of Salt Lake. Helena. Denver and San Francisco aro also in tho field for this proposition, but It Is thought that the location lo-cation of this city, being the center of tho Western mining region, will act In favor of Salt Lake. Another commltteo was appointed ap-pointed to look Into and report concerning tho freight rates on ores, coal, coke, bullion bul-lion and othor mine products Tills committee com-mittee consists of Duncan McVlchle. C. W. Whitley and Simon Bamberger. Thero was also a discussion as to tho advlaabll- Uy of having published a pnmphlot for general circulation, ndvortlelng the developed devel-oped and undeveloped mining districts of Utah, but on thW subject tho commltteo came tono definite conclusion. Tho matter mat-ter will bo taken up at a subsequent meeting meet-ing of tho committee. Fowson Smith, Jr.; a paper on 'Tho Isolation of Unclean Premises to tho Provalcnco of Disease" will be read by Dr. Samuel G, Paul: a paper on "Food Adulteration" Adul-teration" by J. Donnan Rcavls. Noxt Friday evening thero will bo a meeting of considerable Importance oC the Commltteo on Public Parks and Improvements. Improve-ments. Tho Board of Public Works, tho City Engineer and the Engineering committee com-mittee of the Council will be In attendance, attend-ance, and a model will be shown of tho proposed Improvements on Brlgharn street as outlined by Col.
