Show COL. GRIGSBY FACES A SERIOUS CHARGE District Attorney of Alaska Given a Hearing Before the PTesidont at tho White House. WASIFTNGTON, March 9. President Roosevelt today cavo a hearing at tho Whito Houso to Col. Melvln Grlgsby, Unltod States District Attornoy for the Second district of Alaska, at Nomo, on charges of malfeasance In office. Tho charges havo been investigated by the Department of Justlco and tho Attor-noy-Genorol has recommended to tho President tho removal of Col. Grlgaby. In brlof. the charges aro that Origsby accepted $10,000 from the Pioneer Mining company of Nomo, ostensibly for legal servIccH, but, it is alleged, really ns a brlbo to sccuro tho company laimuulty from proscoutlon by tho Government Col. Grlgaby wan represented at tho hearing by former Senator John M Thurston and Judco Balllngcr of Washington Wash-ington Stato. Col. Grlgsby Is well known throughout tho Northwest.
