Show FIGHT GROWING WAR The Struggle for County Clerk Overshadowing Over-shadowing All Else TRIBUNE BUREAU U L T Building v I Ogden Sept 20 j Candidates galore are springing up for the various oIlces at the disposal of the Republican county convention which meets October 2nd In striking contrast to this Is I tho dearth of candidates candi-dates on the Democratic ticket and this Is looked upon as meaning 1 Republican Re-publican landslide I Is unlvcroally conceded that a nomination by the Republicans Re-publicans means election and hence the battle Is to bo fought In the I primaries I the aspiring candidate can control the primaries he Is sure of a nomination nomina-tion and election The fight for the Clerkship Is overshadowing all else so much so that the relative strength of the two candidates is the whole topic of conversation In matters political Mr Holllngsworth the present incumbent Incum-bent has been In the Clerks office either as employee deputy or Clerk for the past ten ear and Is now after the third successive nomination as Clerk His record In tho ofllcc has b cnn cn-n good one but the fact of Ills long service and thirdterm ntplratlons is being used by his opponents against him Mr Mattson tho opposing candidate can-didate on the other hand has never hold an elective office and his two terms as deputy In the County Recorders Record-ers office have mad him ery popular popu-lar He Is n county man also coming from the western part of the county and this gives him a strong pull with the outside delegates The list of candidates published below be-low so far as the Republicans are concerned con-cerned Is nearly a correct one but those of the Democracy are simply the names of thosv who are mentioned by party leaders for the various ofllccs REPUBLICAN
