at a meeting held In the Second ward meetinghouse last night The meeting was pursuant to a call Issued by the Republican organization or-ganization or the precinct and the building wlis crowded to the doors sometime I some-time before S oclock the hour set for I the opening It was expected that there would be I some lively times at the meeting hut as it turned out there was no excitement S excite-ment Bran tings friends had no opposition oppo-sition It was understood the name of President E W Wilson of the board would be presented and voted down Had Mr Wilsons name been offered a representative of Wilson who was there for the purpose would have promptly withdrawn It The meeting was almost entirely composed of Republicans CHAIRMANS VIEWS Joseph McKnlght called the meeting to order and asked for nominations for II chairman B D Blackmarr was named by A F Lawson and after the names I of E M Weller and John Slddoway had been offered and withdrawn Black marl was chosen Blackmarr said he supposed there were both Republicans and Democrats In the meeting I want It understood he said that I am no Democrat I am a Republican I am not a sectarian and I dont care what church a man belongs to1 We all seek tho best interest of the free schools of the city Irrespective of party religion or what not I am opposed to a church proposition In politics schools etc anyway I am opposed to this petition business I want to see a man come out before a convention for a nomina tion All the other precincts had con ventions and I dont see why we should not Joseph McKnlght was statement In writing denying that It had been done It was said the tickets handed around were merely cards announcing an-nouncing a concert to be held Branllngi is a young merchant about 30 years of
