Show CAUCUSES IN LONDON Republicans Meet and Adopt Resolu tions Regarding Gocbels Death London Ky Feb 5The Republican members of the Senate and House held separate and secret caucuses tonight In the Circuit courtroom the Senators I occupying one side of the room and tho I Representatives the other The cau I cuses occupied but a short time Both I caucuses appointed committees to draft I resolutions of respect upon the death I of Gov Goebel I The following resolutions of respect I will be submitted I by both houses at the opening session of the Legislature I tomorrow I I Whereas Senator Goebel an honored member of the Senate of Kentucky died I on the 3rd day of February 1900 his I death being caused by assassination I therefore be it I I Resolved By the Senate of Ken I tucky that we deprecate and deplore I the serious crime which caused his I death believing that assassination in I I an utterly indefensible and cowardly I and heinous offense against the laws or God and man That in honor of our late colleague the Senate shall stand 1 adjourned until Thursday February S 1300 I 1300As far as can be learned the two I houses will adjourn I soon after con voning tomorrow until Thursday I There Is but I one Democratic mem I ber here Senator Hayes from Jefferson I county and he Is of the antiGoebel following Altogether twenty Rcprescn I tatlvcs and nine Senators have arrived There IB one more train to arrive before I tomorrow noon and possibly the num I her may be increased before the time for convening When the citizens I learned I this afternoon that no Democratic Demo-cratic members were aboard the train disappointment wag freely expressed Tho company of militia from Bar bouravllle stood at attention before the Tuurft County Seminary building thu London home of thc Legislature when the members walked past from the railroad I rail-road station to the hotel The presence pres-ence of the soldiers did not provoke any comment but was placidly accepted asa as-a part of the regular Legislative pro I gramme I The town has been filled with mountaineers I 1 moun-taineers all day partly owing to the I I fact that the Laurel county Circuit court began Its winter term today but I I more especially that Court day Is 1 the I I regular day for the mountaineers to I I come to town to swap horses and make I f purchascsWHITTAKER |
