Show Look to the Future With Great Optimism-and Hope When one looks to the future of our country he must be an optimist. No matter how great were the hopes and expectations of the people who lived in this country a generation ago, they were still far short of what we have accomplished. The individual or the business enterprise must look to the future fu-ture with optimism and hope. There may be temporary setbacks set-backs and discouragements, but this country is going forward faster than all of us anticipate. The good things in life may not be free but certainly they are becoming more accessible and more easily available for more people. We shoudl not underestimate the value of what we now possess pos-sess or what it may be worth to us and others in the future. Conditions Con-ditions will favor us in the future. fu-ture. What seems to be expensive expen-sive on our standards may be considered cheap within a few years. In 1909 Henry Ford would have sold his business for eight million dollars and considered it a very good bargain. In fact, such a deal had already gone through but finally was dropped because the financial experts of that day said Mr. Ford's business wasn't worth it. Mr. Ford had come to an understanding with William C. Durant, another motor mo-tor magnate, but the deal was off when Mr. Durant could not get the financia backing because experts ex-perts said that the price was too high. What seemed too high to the bankers and investment experts of 1909 is now regarded as a rare bargain and unusual opportunity. oppor-tunity. This is proof once more that we cannot estimate the future. fu-ture. All we can do is to be optimistic. We are optimistic regarding our future and we believe that great things are ahead if we deserve de-serve them. It is our purpose and intention to do everything we can to deserve the kind of future we want for our company. To gain this future we must have the good will and support of our friends and customers. |
