Show ENCLISH PARLIAMENT DISSOLVED. The Queen Delivers an Address Commending Commend-ing M. P's to the Favor of the Almighty. LonDox, June "28. The, queen is holding a council at Windsor castle. There are present Lord Cranbrook, Lord President ex-Council Goschen, the chancellor exchequer, the Earl of Lathom, and the lord chamberlain of the household. Her majesty signed a decree dissolving parliament. Writs for election of new members of the house of commons will be distributed' tonight. The queen's speech proroguing parliament, says: "The time has arrived when it is expedient that the electoral body of the country be consulted by the assemblage of a new parliament. I have therefore summoned you for prorogation proroga-tion at an earlier period than usual. I am glad to record my friendly relations with foreign powers remain unalloyed. Treaties have been duly ratified, referring to the differences dif-ferences with the United States, with respect to the Behring sea arbitration." Referring to the bills passed at the session just ended the queen said the arrangements that parliament made enabling workingmeu to purchase agricultural holdings will increase in-crease that class of cultivating owners, which is of great importance to the state. The application to Ireland of educational measures recently adopted in Great Britain will confer great benefit upon the people of that country. The speech concluded: "In closing this parliament which has been unusually un-usually laborious and also highly fruitful in benelicient legislation, I thank you for the assiduous performance of your momentous duties during the past six years and heartily commend you to the favor of Almighty (iod. Only twenty members of the house and thirty-five lords were present when the speech from the throne was delivered. |
