Show REAL ESTATE NEWS. Many Capitalists in Salt Lake City Looking Look-ing for Good Business ' Openings. ALL QUIET AT THE EXCHANGE. The Foundation for the Hooper Block Completed Meeting of the Fourth' , of July Committees Tonight. Among Secretary Gillespie's visitors at the Chamber of Commerce this morning morn-ing was a gentleman from the east who is looking .around for a good business opening in Salt Lake. Ho expressed himself as so well pleased with the city that he wanted to invest his money here and started out to investigate a number of opportunities pointed out to him by Mr. Gillespie. A letter was today received at the chamber of commerce from an iron manufacturer in Denver. He wants to build an iron and steel plant in Salt Lake, and asked for information in regard re-gard to what inducements would be ottered in tho way of land, and for information in-formation in regard to the cost of raw material and tho price of the product. A well known eastern lecturer has written Secretary Gillespie asking for data about Salt Lake, to be used in his lectures on American points of interest. A lotter was also received from a banker in Dallas, Texas, asking for information in-formation about real estate investments. THE REAL ESTATE EXCHANGE. There were few members present at this morning's session of the real estate exchange. Young & De Ricqles asked for a long lease an a good property in the bininess portion of the city, and Bowman & Lowd wanted to rent a seven-room house. Secretary Montgomery is still kept busy answering hundreds of inquiries that come in daily in answer to the advertisement ad-vertisement recently put in eastern papers by the exchange. THE FOUNDATION COMPLETED. The foundation for tho new Hooper building, on East First South street, has been completed and work on the superstructure super-structure will bo commenced at once. F'rora the drawings made by Architect Keltting it will be one of the finest business bus-iness blocks in the city. It will be five stories in height, built of brick with stone trimming. The entrance will be through a . massive stone arch and will give the building an unusually imposing appearance. FOURTH OF JULY COMMITTEES. Tho fourth of July committees will meet at the chamber of commerce tonight to-night at 8 o'clock. The preliminaries havo almost all been now arranged, but many details yet remain to be perfected per-fected and all members are urged to bo present. |
