Whipple, a scion of one of tho oldest old-est Rhode Jslaud families, a princely woolen manufacturer for several years, was put in jail today. His whereabouts have been unknow n for two years, and James Campbell, who was a creditor to the extent of $"(H)0, discovered him In the person of salesman for a New York woolen house. He has been through a half million left bv his father, Daniel Whipple, and besides sinking l,000.000 of his mother's money has spent nearly l. 000.000 of others'. His princely residence res-idence was sold under the hammer, his mills at Bnrrillville were burned and creditors took the insurance, and when all was lost he lied the stale, leaving many bondsmen with unsettled claims. |
