Show Magna Defeats Gemmel Sun. Failing to overcome a 4 0 lead established es-tablished by Magna in the first inning, Gemmell lost to the first-half first-half champions Sunday at the local lo-cal diamond 9-6. Shafer knocked out a homer for Magna during the first inning to score Owens and Evans who had hit singles to be on bases. Previously Evans had singled to score Vaughan who haa drawn a walk. Don Harrison relieved re-lieved Mel, Scott after Magna had run up a 4-0 lead. In the fifth inning Magna scored four runs off of as many hits. GemmeU's hits were well scattered throughout the game. Smith and Pierson did some nice hitting for the locals, and Evans, Owens and Shafer did the big-sticking for Magna. Mag-na. i |
