Show Playground Happenings By Delia Macke The first summer school to be held in Bingham Canyon," opened Monday with an almost overwhelming overwhelm-ing attendance. All of the parents have shown . splendid . cooperitloh and the children are enthusiastic and willing to work. Approximate-ly Approximate-ly one hundred and fifty students were enrolled Monday and the attendance at-tendance grows larger each day. ' The daily schedule for the group has been arranged so that each child is enabled ,to attend three classes a day. The procedure is as follows: between the hours of one and ten the following classes are held, tennis, elementary art and supervised playground; from ten to eleven a child may have his choice of advanced dancing, dramatics or sports; at eleven o'clock the classes begin with either advanced art, elementary tap or sports. ' Each Friday will be student day. This Friday will see the finals of the checker tournament how In progress, and also the soap bubble contest. Points will be awarded to all children taking part in the tournaments. tour-naments. At the end of the si, week, term, awards will be given to high point students. All Parents and Visitors are welcome to come on Fridays. Friday, July 24, a doll show will be held and also finals in the Jack contest. The city is donating do-nating the use of their truck and ' workers to haul in sand, and we hope to have a' first rate sand pile " ready for the younger children by next week. Many of the Copperton children are riding up from Copperton in the busses to attend school, we would like to make it clear' to their mothers, that we cannot be responsible respon-sible for these children as they ride to and from Bingham. Three year old children are too young to attend at-tend school. The youngest students should be five years old. |
