Show OPENING OF THE reporter eureka utah at a meeting held last tuesday even evening ng the commercial club made good headway in their preparations towards celebrating the opening of the new tintic gintic smelter on the of this month many of the details in I 1 connection with the celebration are still to be arranged but at the meeting on tuesday many suggestions were made in regard to the program of course there will be a number of speeches and in addition other exercises which will make the event one of exceptional interest the program will no doubt be ready for publication in the next issue of the reporter it is so far settled however that there will be a magnificent illumination upon eureka peak in the evening an exhibit by two or three of the oldest working miners in the district illustrating the methods employed in the early days of tintic gintic and there will also be a public wedding upon the grounds at which joseph F smith the president of the L D S church may officiate A bowery is to be erected for the accommodation of the ladies children and old people who will be in attendance and in all probability booths will be erected where refreshments will be served throughout the day it is almost certain that the committee will persuade senator george sutherland to attend and address the thousands of people who are sure to be present his subject will ill be tintic gintic in the past the committee has made an extremely happy choice as senator sutherland was born and raised at silver city the oldest camp in the tintic gintic district which is less than a mile from the point where the new smelter is now located uncle jesse knight the principal owner in the new smelter the new railroad and a score or more of big mines here will furnish a speaker who will tell of the tintic gintic of the future recognizing the fact that many of chev the visitors will be unfamiliar with the resources of the district the commercial club has appointed committees in each camp whose duties it will be to furnish in information regarding the different mines prospects ets these committees will also see that those who desire to remain in the district over night are able to secure proper hotel accommodations one member of the committee from each town will be at the smelter all day and be in constant telephonic communication comuni cation with the various headquarters the committees are as follows eureka 6 C ad E hulsh huish joseph larson and william davis with headquarters at the oe commercial club building mammoth 1 I E D diehl chas walsh and harry at th the elmer with headquarters mammoth record office s silver city george J W tay j TC C F brown with headquarters at u lor an agui the tb faiman hotel there is also a committee upon decorations made up of the following gentle gentlemen men hans J hassell and james marveille Har of ma mammoth ammoth george t mccune mcc une and hutchinson davel mills of eureka J M tay taylor boj of silver city and W lester mangum manner maniger of the smelter Z 0 the committee selected to handle the consists of herbert hopes joseph barbecue I 1 allent alien john hupfer and george mccune mccline of eureka and john hepworth hep worth of mammoth W D myers john ivey and jan james ies P driscoll Drisco II constitute the committee upon refreshments fresh ments the members of the commercial club will fo form rm themselves into a general entertainment tain ment committee and invite all citizens and all the members of the different secret societies of the district to heartily operate cooperate co e with them in making the visitors feel that their trip to tintic gintic has been a profitable one the eureka and mammoth bands have been engaged to furnish music at the exercises which are to be held at the smelter the excursion trains will go direct to the smelter upon their arrival in tintic gintic and immediately thereafter the barbecue will commence the other exercises following while no definite arrangements have as yet been perfected it is expected that train service between eureka mammoth and silver city will be furnished throughout the day for the accommodation of local people |
