Show MONTANA lewiston argus another fine strike has just been made in the north moccasin at kendall while drifting from the foot level a nice body of 20 ore was uncovered owing to the failure of some of the conveying machinery to arrive the shipment being tied up somewhere in the general demoralization of railway traffic the proposed increase in the amount of ore sent through the mill has not been made but b ut this will be done very soon zortman miner charley leibert was in from the west side on friday and gave us an idea of the grand showing being made upon the august and the sich and liebert group now under bond to L S goslin who has interested a number of helena men who will probably soon take over the property erect a mill and start active operations the property has been opened up until there is no longer a question of it being one of the biggest mining propositions in the little butte copper age it is reported reported that the copper eagle mining company will soon complete plans for beginning development operations at the eagle mine in the north butte district near walkerville Wal kerville it is said that satisfactory financial arrangements have been made through the efforts of jack brazzleton Braz leton with kansas city capitalists whereby sufficient money will be supplied for development purposes the eagle shaft is down to a depth of feet and this will probably be continued to the foot level where the ground will be thoroughly prospected by crosscutting and drifting butte copper age patrick and others who have the iravona and ancient mini mining 19 in the southwestern part of butte under lease and bond recently shipped a carload of ore to the bute reduction works with good results the ore is of a nature and easily treated at the smelter the leasers leaders will soon take out for shipment from the ancient some highly ore which is said to run about 90 or 95 per cent silica this ore will be treated chiefly for the silica it contains and the returns will be only 2 or 3 per ton the silica being used principally in connection with the smelting smelling sm elting of other ores to protect the lining in and blast furnaces lewiston argus the stockholders of the cone butte mining company have by unanimous vote ratified the plan of president henry M rae and the directors for an issue of bonds to the amount of secured by mortgage for the purpose of providing funds for the immediate erection of a mill on the property the papers were filed for record this week the first national bank being named as trustee while in the east recently senator rae arranged for the sale of the bonds so that the cash will be available at once and the mill will be erected during the summer As the company now has on hand and blocked out an immense supply of ore of good value it appears certain that the cone butte will shortly take its place among the actual producers and the success of the project will exert a stimulation effect upon mining in that district butte butt miner general manager gillie of the amalgamated copper company properties today issued an official statement concerning the fires in the anaconda and st lawrence mines misleading statements concerning which were sent out of this city last night mr gillie says that the blaze which has been raging continuously since 1889 9 is no worse than it has been several times before and that there is nothing alarming in the situation the fire is supposed to have been started by a miners candle although it is not known positively how it originated for nineteen years it has fed on the timbers of that part of the mine to which it has been confined spreading slowly the sulphur in the ores also lends fuel to the smoldering flames the fire by burning out the sulphur of the ores has increased the values of the ore coming comin from that section the copper precipitates being particularly high and adding materially to the revenues of the company |
