UP TO SCHOOL SCHOOLCHILDREN CHILDREN Salt ans Idea With Reference to Naval Entertainment Fund To The Salt Lake Herald Referring to your editorial in this morn mornIngs mornings Ings issue concerning an entertainment fund und for the use of the officers of the Battleship squadron which will soon sail saU for the Pacific an idea has occurred to tome tome tome me which might serve to secure the necessary necessary necessary essary funds in case congress does not specially provide My I idea would be to ask the school chil children children dren of the country to each donate say saya a penny apiece toward such a fund If there Is time for such a plan to be carried out the fund Is needed It Ii seems to me that this would give the children a special Interest in the cruise and besides stimulating their spirit of patriotism would be of geographical value to many of them for they would watch the progress of the fleet from port porto to o port and could have some points brought to their ther attention about the par particular particular countries and places visited Possibly Rear Admiral Evans ar arrange arrange arrange range to send a short message to the school children from the principal points visited Which could be printed In the pa papers papers papers pers and might add to the Interest The above plan may not be at all practicable practicable I but the suggestion may at least lead ead to some better one and thus enable I Ithe the officers of the fleet to repay some of the courtesies that are sure to be extend extended I ed to them en route C T To M U Salt Lake
