Show HASHIXGXO.. The lulou Pacific Compromise Compro-mise Tlie 1'uctlic Iuil importation im-portation ol Chinese. Washington, 12. The question of a compromise with tho Union Pacific railroad company suggested in there-cent there-cent Utter ol President Dillon to the secretary of the treasury was ono ot the subjects before the cabinet to-Uay, and the members present exprrsst.-d their individual views on the matter, though of course it remains for the secretary of the treasury to decide what recommendation he will make to cougrsss on the subject. It seems not unlikely that some arrangement may bo agreed upon between tho government and the railroad company, com-pany, provided some changes are maie in their oiler which will be more acceptable than the proposition now at hand. 'J his, it is thought, would be preferable to commencing a series of suits. The views eressed by the cabinet were tavoraote, but tht-y suggested that the changes neceary to be made by the company shonld be in I relation to the details of adjustment, and times of payment. The amount tho company oti'-r is more than half the transportation and 5 per cent, which government claims, aud this it is said, it more than government would obtain even admitting the suit on the 5 per cent, should be decided in its favor. It now appears that the the treaties pending in the senate will necessitate an extra sesiion uf that body, and the president will soon issue a proclamation for that purpose. A. H. Whiting telegraphed from Philadelphia saying he will be here to-morrow to testily beiore the committee com-mittee on ways and means in rela-lation rela-lation to the Pacific Mail subsidy. The house committee on appropriations appro-priations agreed to reconimiuend on appropriation of $oOO,000 'o defray the expenses attending the display ol the several departments of the government govern-ment at the centennial exposition. The president has nominated Geo. I W. French as secretary of Wyom i ' territory. The committee having the matter in charge will report a new bill, taking tak-ing for its basiB the bill presented by Pope, of California, looking to tho discontinuance of the importation of uiueau women i jr purposes oi prostitution. pros-titution.
