Show Hose. Iho City bathers having entered upon the initiatory steps for the construction of water works, the next thing to bs obtained is a sufficient supply of hose and the formation of hose companies. With mains along tho principal and most closely-built streets, and fire-plugs at tho proper points and distances,hose well directed is all that is necessary, when the water is on, to meet and fight fire. A fall sufficient to raise water a hundred feet will be obtained by making the reservoir at the ulaco formerly indl- oated in this paper; and that will throw water as high and as far as will bo required for any building within range of the mains. But thcro should be several companies properly organized organ-ized to take charge of the hose, run it to the sceuo of a conflagration, aud work it while there, We throw out these suggestions for tho public benefit.
