A fire broke out at the lumber yard at Bridgeport, yesterday, and destroyed $40,000 worth of lumber and several adjoiuiug buildings, build-ings, including a grocery and confectionery confec-tionery store. In the Police Court to-day, tliecase of Manuel Obbe, charged with robbery, , the complaining complain-ing witness being a Chinaman, Judite Sawyer decided he would adhere to tbe decision of the Supreme Court of California, Cali-fornia, and declined to admit Chinese testimony, taking his chances of prosecution prose-cution under the Ku Klux bill. The charge was accordingly dismissed and the prisoner released. There is an immense attendance at the funeral of Charles D. Carter at St. Mary's Cathedral.
