Show HOW IT HAPPENED Ey Witnesses Tel of the Killing of Ole Madsen Provo June 29 Sheriff Stoma and Deputy County Attorney Bagley re turned from Thistle this morning having hav-ing gone there to attend the inquest ever the body of Ole Madsen who was killed yesterday but owing to the reasOn rea-son that all the facts as reported yesterday yes-terday in The Herald were substantiated substan-tiated by Mr Henry Siler a resident of Clinton Utah county and an eyewitness eye-witness to the accident as well as by a number of the railroad men no Inquest In-quest was held i At the time of the accident Mr Mad sen and Mr Siler were walking down the track toward the station house to get on train No6 which goes to San pete On their way from the saloon where they had been thpy crossed a switch and came to the qain track which runs along the east side of the I station house and upon which No1 staton was then standing directly opposite the house Mr Siler crossed the main track but Madsen did nat but continued contin-ued walking toward the station while I or the track In the meantime Engineer I Engi-neer Stewart who had been on the west switch came up to the main line and I back down in order to make connection connec-tion with No1 and in doing so ran over Madsen There was an engine on the east switch which the two men had just crossed and perhaps Madsen nistook the noise made by Engineer Stewarts engine for supposed noise of the one on the east switch and this deception cost him his life Mr Siler contrary to the train hands said there was no alarm given however he states that the fireman yelled Look out just before the engine went over Madsen The deceased was cut in two just above the hips asinorinatum and was not badly mutilated his face having hav-ing but one small bruise The body was shipped home to Manti today I |
